Call of the week goes to the fellow looking for cow tongues and various other parts that he didn’t go into detail about.
Right now I’m just completing the Light Company EP (currently being mastered by Richard G. Benoit) and putting the final nails into a song by Josiah Garnet Bonnett.
In the last few weeks I’ve started up recording new albums with Lisa Marie Kruchak and Prince Perry. In the planning stages on a number of other projects which will hopefully not conflict schedule wise.
Getting very close to completing my own album. Chipping away at the last 3 songs which are almost there. Trying to focus while getting to all the tasks that are popping daily.
Yesterday, I tracked/ mixed with Josiah, editing drums and recorded bass parts with Brendan Bauer for Prince Perry’s project, made mix updates for Light Company and ran off an instrumental mix for Michelle McKibbon. I was exhausted by the end of the day and looking at my to-do-list I saw that I didn’t make much of a dent.

Recently released Dangerband Ep (2 songs). We tracked drums/ bass at Canterbury Music and finished the tracks at the Slaughterhouse. And here they are at the release night in all their glory.

Recording drums for 2 songs that I’ll be tracking for Susan Cadogan. Lucky Pete will be arriving soon. I’ve prepared 2 sessions with bass, gtr, vocals for him to play to.

Bri-anne Swan dropped by the other day, set up her camera and we recorded a few quick one offs. She makes it seem easy.

A lot going on right now, but as I’m getting on top of that, here’s a clip of the Dressage music I worked on with Tamara Williamson. Here is Tamara performing live to a karaoke version of the kur we made. She’s sang without any proper monitors and managed not to get trod on by D-Niro, the horse. Montreal Ska Fest 2012

MSF 2012 took place this past weekend. It was something to watch. I had my favourite moments like the New York night with Victor Rice and the M-7!, The Forthrights (a new discovery for me) and the tribal party with Toronto’s Sound One which shook until 3am. The Fundamentals, Danny Rebel’s solo set at the Tattoo Lounge and several other sets were inspiring to watch or in my case, sway to. Sound One was part of the “after-party” series along with Prince Perry from Toronto (Thursday) and J.K. and The Relays on the Saturday (Calgary). Agent Jay (Slackers) was DJ for the entire weekend, spinning a lot of tasty tracks and even played some Slits which was a treat. Agent Jay also hosted the Slackers documentary screening on the Saturday which added a new dimension to the Festival.
On the Sunday I played the brunch at Ye Olde Orchard. This was quite the undertaking for me as I rarely play live and had the opportunity to mine through a lot of material. As I’m finishing off my solo recording it gave me a chance to run some of those songs and rethink which ones I might want to record in the near future.
My thanks to Val and everyone around her (that’s how I picture it – everyone orbiting around her in space – to each their own). Pat and Julien Gagnon archived the entire production (as has been done since the beginning – there must be so much great stuff to sift through).

Came across this short film that Paul Swoger-Ruston and I created music for. We got to try a number of instruments to fill out the soundtrack.

“Directed by David Fowler aka “Duke Neutron” in 1995 with some of the original Black Walk Productions gang. It was a cult hit amongst friends and colleagues. This is its world wide web premiere! For 13 years the film has languished on a BetaSP tape.”
