THE STREETS OF HAMILTON
Went to Hamilton for the Open Street Festival on James. It was the second year (from what I was told) for this celebration. With the weather pitching back and forth so unpredictably, it seems like it’ll be tougher to depend on a consistently clear day. In this case, it seemed to hold out. Our main reason for going was to watch a friend, Dave Gould perform a set of music on the South End Stage. I’ve had the pleasure of recording and performing with Dave for a couple of years now. He’s added drums/ percussion on recordings by Nicole Christian, Josiah and The Expos (unreleased). Always a delight, but this time Dave was performing solo with his guitar and a rigged up toilet. He’d installed some microphone(s) and had it running through some devices in order to manipulate the performance further (using a loop machine, delay…etc…). It was almost as entertaining to see passersby turning their heads to see this grown man sitting on a toilet while stomping his feet and howling at the top of his lungs. Well worth the trip.
While walking James Street we picked up a great book on making paper airplanes, and looked at some lovely antique bicycles such as this one, the Huffy Radio Bike.
Last week I completed pre-production with Dangerband (they are now scheduled to come in to begin recording), we continued tracking The Good Rats Radio, recorded Kathryn Rose, pre-production with Prince Perry for his upcoming recording, and put some finishing touches on my co-write medical song with Mel Borins.
